The 30-Minute Habit of Self-Made Millionaires
People make the leap into entrepreneurship for any number of reasons, but without a doubt, one of the most consistent reasons for this deviation from the corporate track is money. Most entrepreneurs want to be rich, and it's hard to get rich when you're working for someone else.
Don't worry, there'll be no shaming here! We're of the opinion that the desire to stack your bank account does not disqualify you from being a human being of emotional and spiritual substance and depth. But in line with the more tangible of goals on your entrepreneurial journey, we're sharing one of the key habits of self-made millionaires, as described by Tom Corley when he surveyed over 177 self-made millionaires for his book "Change Your Habits, Change Your Life". He determined the following:
- Successful people surround themselves with other successful people.
- Successful people waste as little time as possible.
- Successful people carve out a few minutes every day for mindfulness or focused thinking.
- Successful people read more than the average person.
- Successful people get plenty of sleep.
Not surprisingly, Corley also found that at least 76% of the self-made millionaires interviewed exercised at least 30 minutes a day. These entrepreneurs also found that this time, usually before most people have even gotten out of bed, played a major role in their success. After all, exercise makes you smarter, happier, and helps to deal with the anxiety and stress that can come with a challenging, high level executive position.
The physical and emotional benefits of exercise have long been verified through scientific studies, so it stands to reason that adopting this exercise habit could have participants reaping the benefits of the increased resilience and mental toughness of a daily regimen. Improve your body, your mind, and your bottom line!
